Group Games

Playing group games can be fun for anyone of any age. Group games are especially fun when played at parties. A favorite group game of children is Pin the Tail on the Donkey. A picture of a donkey, minus his tail, is hung up on a wall. A cutout of the tail with a thumbtack or tape on one end is given to a blindfolded child. After spinning the child a few times, he or she tries to pin the tail on the donkey. Children will laugh as the blindfolded child pins the tail on the donkey - usually no where near where the tail goes!

Some group games can be played by children or adults. Twister consists of a big mat with big circles of different colors and a small spinner. There is a referee that spins the spinner. It will land on a color and a body part - left hand, right hand, left foot or right foot. The referee calls out what the spinner landed on and each player must place their body part on a circle of that color, without two people using the same circle. If your body part called out is already on that color circle, you have to move it to another circle of the same color. Participants get tangled up and often fall while trying to stretch to reach circles.

Adults love to play group games as well. Charades has been a long time favorite. The only thing you need to play charades is a watch with a second hand to keep time and a group of people. There are many versions of Charades, but in most versions, there are two teams. Each individual writes a title of something on a piece of paper. This can be a title of a book, a person's name, a television show - anything! The slips are collected from each player on that team and given to the opposing team. The first person picks a slip and then must try to describe the title to his teammates within a certain period of time. You can hold up your fingers to indicate how many words at in the title, but you cannot speak, only gesture to give them hints. The team can scream out what they think the title is at any time. Most of the fun is in looking silly while trying to pantomime the title.

Group games can be fun for everyone. Try some at your next party!
