Group TravelGroup travel can be fun. Group travel is when an individual or couple consults a travel agent. The travel agent books a tour for the individual or couple with a tour operator. Because the tour operator works with volume, they get lower prices on stuff such as airfare, hotel rates and that reduces the overall cost of travel. The best thing about group travel is that it is less expensive than booking the airfare, hotel and car rental yourself. Even shopping online to find the best deal will not save you more money than booking group travel. Because you will be traveling with a group on a chartered bus, you don't have to worry about gas or directions on how to get to landmarks and such. Group travel is especially handy if you are traveling overseas to a country you've never been to. The tour operator has better knowledge of the hotels in the area, so you don't have to try to do research online to find a nice, affordable hotel. The tour operator also arranges all the sightseeing and any cost of admission is often included in your package. This helps make your vacation more relaxed because you don't have to worry about what is the best things to go see or what you should experience. However, there are a few downsides to group travel. Once you sign up, you are locked into following the itinerary provided. That is, if you are at a place and want to spend more time that is allowed in the tour operator's schedule, you may be out of luck. But, some tour operators allow you a free day in the vacation to go places you'd like around town. Another downside of group travel is you may be required to fly on certain dates, so your schedule for vacation needs to be very flexible. |
